The SAT® Writing and Grammar section tests knowledge of writing, punctuation, grammar rules, and writing structure. It consists of 44 multiple choice questions to complete in 35 minutes, and this score counts for half of the composite reading/writing score. This gives about 47 seconds for each question. The SAT® Writing is the easiest section to improve on because grammar rules are easy to learn. Many students answer the grammar questions by doing “what sounds right”, but if they spend only a few hours learning the grammar rules they stop relying on ear and start relying on rules to get the right answer.
